Post-Carnival Update

Drag Brunch. Saturday Morning. Photo Courtesy of N. Gelb.
Sorry I'm so bad at blogging lately.  But I've been really good at participating in life.  We just enjoyed/endured/ensnared/enveloped ourselves in Mardi Gras, which continues to be one of the most amazing celebrations of creativity and revelry I've been a part of.  Aeli refused to wear his Satsuma Boy costume (fashioned from an actual citrus bag), so he was a flying squirrel for the second time.
Here he is eating a carrot from the garden.  This was a distraction to stop him from picking and eating all the green tomatoes.
We were all superheroes (me = Grammar Girl; Stefin = Groove Shark; Nicole = Plant Propagation Girl), and learned a dance (video rated PG 13) that Nicole and I are very proud to have choreographed.  (Who knew we had that skill?) We flash-mobbed it at the St. Ann's parade Tuesday morning, to the delight of parade-watchers and fellow participants alike.

Also, we engaged in a very special round of sidewalk yoga, at about 2pm, during a recharge break at our houses (which collectively are now known as "The Compound"- or at least, that's what Nicole started calling it).  I want to emphasize here that at this point we had been awake since 6:50 or earlier, partying, and parading, and also had been up until 2-4am the night before DANCING in all caps.

Now Aeli is playing the keyboard really intently.
Other things he's been into lately:
-Spinning himself in circles and getting so dizzy he falls down.
-Spying on people through the mail slot.
-The "lazy uh-oh" (one handed signing)
-Not really napping a lot.
-Dancing hard to Florence and the Machine and Arcade Fire.
-Swinging with Dana.

Right now Stefin is away- having been kidnapped by some of his best friends and taken to Josh's family's ranch in Texas.  We're missing him a lot, but trust he's having fun doing yoga and shooting guns.

Life is good: vacation is great.
